I’m Baaack (Catching Up Saturday June 2)

Hello everyone! As you all should know, I have not posted anything on here and not much on my Instagram from two weeks now. Do you know why that is? I’ve been at a science camp and could not bring my computer along. I also did not have that much time to read with how busy our schedule was. That leaves my June Wrap-Up to be only one. Which makes me really sad but also really motivated to read more in July. So this should be a decently sized catch up session, so let’s get started! (This will be coming out a day late).

June Wrap-Up is what I’m going to start with. Sadly, I have only finished one book and that was It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. I gave it a 4.5/5 stars and you can check out my review here.

This leads us into my July TBR which includes a lot of my TBR from June sadly. So in the month of July I hope to finish/read:

  • Never Forgotten by Kelly Risser
  • Demigods & Monsters by Raye Wagner
  • The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

I chose The Kiss of Deception from my TBR Jar before I went of to camp because I thought I would be able to read 3 books while I was there but my day was fully packed and by the time I had time to read I was really tired and just wanted to sleep. So I will definitely be making up for it in the month of July and on my next trip to California for a week. Speaking of that…

I’m going to California soon and I’m really hope to buy a book or two there! I want to find some independent book stores near the LA area since that’s where I’ll be, can you guys comment down below if you know any? I’d love to find ones that other people know because independent book stores can just be the BEST. I have one near me that’s so quite and cute right across the street from the library. So please feel free to suggest me some so I can find time to drop by a few bookstores.

I’m barely half way into The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh and I really love it so far. I wish I could be getting through it faster but so far (as we know) I haven’t. I’m so confused with who I love because Khalid is slowly starting to rise in my heart and sadly Tariq is falling. Tell me what you think about book (without spoilers) in the comments below and lets have a discussion about love interests and such. I will definitely be finishing this very quickly because I positive it is overdue at the library, yikes. I’m really bad about that. That’s why volunteering at the library really helps me keep track of them, haha.

I only have about 80 pages left in Never Forgotten by Kelly Risser and I have’t read it in a bit sadly. I am planning on finishing it tomorrow (the day this post comes out) even though I don’t like it too much. I’m not getting all the paranormal elements I was looking for when Ben @ Benjaminoftomes raved about on his channel during one of his Free Book Friday videos. I’m not really believing him at this point. I’m reading it more for the romance between Evan and Meara. But we’ll see in a little bit whether or not I’m going to be finishing this series of books.

I guess the last thing I have to mention today is that I bought no books in the month of June. I’m actually really proud of myself because I need to be on a ban from buying books because I do not have a job and that means I will easily be broke if I were to buy books. But I did get one book just Friday from my camp called Dream Walker by Dr. Bernard Harris Jr. who is the founder of my camp. He was the first African American to perform a space walk and the book is all about his journey to doing that and I am so excited to read it because I’ve met Dr. Harris twice now and he is such a nice man and I’m excited to read more of his story after already hearing it.

So that is it for this very late catch up session. I hope you all enjoyed hearing all of my sad excuses for not reading. If you have anything you’d like to say, comment it! And don’t forget to follow me on my Instagram @youngbook.lover and on my Twitter at @youngbook_lover.

  1. Kambria, I’m thrilled that you’re reading Never Forgotten, but bummed that you’re not enjoying it. I’d love for you to give the next book a try – I promise that it delves much more into fantasy and magic! The paranormal elements are super light in book one, but it’s a full underwater fantasy by book 3. The trilogy is definitely a journey more than a sprint. Happy Reading! ❤️

    1. So glad to hear that! I am enjoying other things in the book like the romance. It is very rare that I ever give up on a book or series so I will definitely continue your series. Thanks for commenting!
